Fukahori, Tokio; Nakayama, Shinsuke; Katabuchi, Tatsuya*; Shigyo, Nobuhiro*

Nihon Genshiryoku Gakkai-Shi ATOMO$$Sigma$$, 65(12), p.726 - 727, 2023/12

The Investigative Committee on Nuclear Data investigates and observes global trends in nuclear research and development and conducts comprehensive examinations of Japanese nuclear data activities from a broader perspective, as well as cooperation with domestic and foreign academic institutions in a wide range of fields other than the Atomic Energy Society. We aim to establish a system for communication, information exchange, and interdisciplinary cooperation. In this report, we will report on three of the main activities for the 2021-2022 term: a request list site for nuclear data, human resource development, and roadmap production.

From 1987 to 2014, the Energy Technology Data Exchange (ETDE) Program under the auspices of the International Energy Agency (IEA) had been carried out successfully with fruitful outcomes. ETDE had been able to be an excellent database for use in the general field of application of energy, including nuclear energy. ETDE could have deserved it, by extensively collecting the literature and providing the metadata worldwide, as well as by delivering and disseminating the bibliographic data, first to member countries, next additionally to the developing countries free of charge and finally all the world through the Internet free of charge as well. During all the days of ETDE Program Then ETDE had been very close and strong ties and cooperation with the International Nuclear Information System (INIS) Program under the auspices of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), e.g., by sharing and complementing many elements and parts of each database mutually. A portal site, the ETDE World Energy Base (ETDEWEB), for the database of ETDE, had been available for use to deliver and disseminate the valuable information of bibliography of ETDE, containing directions to the full text data, dedicated to satisfying the interest of end users worldwide. As of today, even if the addition of bibliographic data to ETDE has ceased since 2014, ETDEWEB itself has been available as before, maintained in great help of the Office of Scientific and Technical Information (OSTI) of the Department of Energy (DOE), US, while OSTI had been praised as the Operating Agent (OA) of ETDE Program from the commencement to the ceasing. This is a report containing several historical documents in regard with the ETDE activities worldwide kept and remained in Japan as records (minutes etc) at the side of JAERI.

Improving the metadata of bibliographic information to enhance its access

Hayakawa, Misa; Nagaya, Shun; Ebisawa, Naomi; Inagaki, Satomi; Nozawa, Takashi; Itabashi, Keizo

Proceedings of 4th International Conference of Asian Special Libraries (ICoASL 2015) (USB Flash Drive), 8 Pages, 2015/04

Recently, a large quantity of digital contents is distributed on the Internet. Therefore, it is important for us to consider how we can add the value and increase the access to our library bibliographic information metadata. Availability from multiple channels and providing link to the full text may become a solution. This paper describes the case of Japan Atomic Energy Agency Library, as an example to improve our library database that is providing the R&D information (academic papers, oral presentation, and technical reports) of our institute. JAEA library provides this information through JAEA Originated Papers Searching System (JOPSS). This system was improved by providing access channels for the metadata and link to full text. In addition, user interface was constructed based on the information seeking behavior.

Centralized radioactivity measurement system for radiation control in Tokai research establishment of JAERI

Kawasaki, Katsuya

Hoken Butsuri, 40(1), p.56 - 60, 2005/03

The centralized radioactivity measurement system has been used to carry out intensively measurements of a large number and variety of samples that are necessary for the control of radioactivity in the facilities of the JAERI Tokai Establishment and its environment. The operation of the system started in 1981, and presently the system processes more than 20,000 samples a year. However, the computers of the system have aged so much that the manufacturer's support and stable operation are no longer sure. Therefore, we renewed and restructured the computer system in 2003. A client-server system was adopted in the new system. The information of samples can be registered through the intranet. The clients can also confirm the progress of processing of their samples and browse the analytical results from their own computers. The renewed system can provide some convenience functions to the clients. This report is introduced about the centralized radioactivity measurement system.

Why is the Fusion Reactor called "The sun on the earth" ?

Tsuji, Hiroshi

Chodendo Web 21 (Internet), (2004年8月), p.18 - 19, 2004/08

The expression "The fusion reacctor is the sun on the earth," is often used to introduce research and development of fusion reactors. This document was prepared so as to explain the reason why it is so called to the students at the 3rd grade of junior high schools and at high schools. This document was made according to a request by the publication office of the technical internet journal "Superconductivity Web 21" which is published by the International Superconductivity Technology Center.

System concept for FBR cycle data base

Kofuji, Hirohide; ; *; *;

JNC TN9400 2000-055, 49 Pages, 2000/03

JNC-TN9400-2000-055.pdf:2.07MB

Accompanying with the progress of the "Feasibility study on FBR cycle system; FS" , various kinds of technical information, facility design parameters, and related data will be obtained and they should be stored in data bases and be used as fundamental data for the FS. So the several data bases are going to be set up at each section and controlled by the management system through a local area network. Among above data bases, a prototype of FBR cycle data base that will record data for FBR scenario study and synthetic assessment is to be completed in. Phase l by fiscal year 2000, so the data base system concept has been examined in the current fiscal year, 1999. As the results of the system concept examination, two types of prototypes have been selected, one is to be set up as the data table containing digital data that are extracted from technical papers, another is as image data of papers with index information. Referring to examples of data bases in other companies, it was kept in mind to use a package software for general purpose and to utilize data existing now.

Thermodynamic database for nuclear fuels and reactor materials and website construction

Shirasu, Noriko; Nagae, Yuji; Kurata, Masaki

no journal, ,

Japan Atomic Energy Agency (JAEA) has been developing and compiling a thermodynamic database of nuclear fuels and reactor materials for multi-purposes, including the prediction of fuel degradation progression in severe accident conditions and the characterization of chemical properties of fuel debris. We have constructed a website. The phase diagrams, thermodynamic data and liquidus-solidus surfaces calculated using the database are introduced in the website.
